Creating RxFETCH
As a Geriatric Care Manager I often accompanied my patients at their doctor appointments. While sitting in the waiting room, I noticed that a large percentage of the people would carry their medication in grocery bags or zipper storage bags. This seemed not only unorganized to me, but dangerous. If some of the pill bottles accidently opened in the bags, mixing them up, they may get put back into the wrong bottle. I thought, in this day and age where doctors and hospitals want patients to bring their medications with them, people need and deserve to have a proper carrying case.

It was out of this concern that pushed me to think of other ways to carry medications and medical information with as little handling as possible. I took note of the items doctors required patients to bring, such as medications, prescriptions and medical history. I factored in additional items that would be helpful for patients to have on hand, such as emergency information, appointment calendars, and extra room for snacks or a glucose monitor (for long appointment waits). Then I considered the design of the tote. It should be soft and easy to handle, yet well organized inside for those who had a lot to carry.

One year later, I finally had something that combined all of these ideas – RxFETCH! I have since been actively pushing RxFETCH to market so that everyone can take advantage of this compact travel tote. I hope you enjoy the functionality of RxFETCH as much as I did creating it!
